Jet Airways, JetLite Airlines cut fuel surcharge

Jet Airways , India 's top domestic carrier, and group firm JetLite cut fuel surcharge on air tickets from Saturday, following a similar move by state-run Air India, after fuel prices eased.

Crude oil fell towards $42 a barrel sinking to its lowest level since January 2005 on fears of falling demand.

Jet Airways cut surcharge, which makes up to half the cost of an air ticket in some cases, by 400 rupees and JetLite by 300 rupees for short-haul routes and by 200 rupees for long flights.

India cut fuel prices for the first time in nearly two years to lift a slowing economy. It cut gasoline prices by 10 percent and diesel by 6 percent.
